Dog Bite Injuries
Atlanta, Georgia Personal Injury Lawyer
Each year in this country, half a million children are bitten by dogs, seriously enough that medical
attention is needed. Many are injured on the head or face. Over 400,000 adults are seriously
injured by dog bites annually, as well.
Dog attacks are a growing national problem that needs more public awareness. The Center for
Disease Control and Prevention and the American Veterinarians Association are working
together to inform the public, including the recent designation of the first week of May as National Dog Bite Prevention Week.
If you or a loved one has been bitten by a dog, you may need legal advice regarding your rights.
Similarly, if your dog has bitten someone, you may need legal counsel. Lawsuits or criminal
charges may be involved; claims may be made against homeowners' policies. Considerations
include violation of leash laws, and whether or not the owner knew of any propensity of the
animal to be aggressive or violent.
